Neil and I are SO EXCITED to be headed to Wisconsin on Friday. My lovely sister, Kelly, will be tending to the garden while we are gone, and I am so thankful she will be around to take care of the dog and all our plants!

Week 13 - Our First Eggplant

Hey Everyone! Neil and I are gearing up for our trip to Crivitz in 2 weeks, and are very excited to see the Wisconsin Clan!  Things are going crazy at Perry St. Gardens - In fact, everything just keeps growing and growing. I picked our very first eggplant last night and made a delicious Eggplant Parmesan for dinner. I am sharing the herbs, and I am sure that in a few weeks time, we are going to be everyone's favorite people in regards to produce!

Forgot to take an all over photo of the garden today, BUT here are some photos of how things are coming along:

Tomatoes are going CRAZY!

Just a small photo of all of our fabulous tomatoes coming up!

Butternut Squash has taken over!
Cucumber also making its mark

Herbs are still growing!
On a side note, the Aurora movie theater shooting was at a theater that Neil, my sister and myself never go to, however it is a very tragic and senseless act of evil.  We are very sad for all the families affected by the shooting. Anything that happens like this is tragic anywhere, but people in Colorado are particularly sensitive to mass shootings. We are sending good vibes to the people affected today.  Hope you guys do to!

Week 11 - Look at our garden grow!

Hey Everyone - sorry it has taken so long to post (again)! I was in Chicago for a week in June, Amsterdam for another week, and Napa/Lafayette for a long weekend. I was literally home for only 15 days in the month of June.  Therefore, Neil gets all the credit for our ever-growing garden.  With temperatures hitting 100+ degrees here in Denver several days in a row, Neil was a genius, and purchased soaker hoses for the garden. This has helped everything tremendously.

Our marigolds are out of control, we are starting to see our flowers turn into vegetables, and are finally picking some tomatoes.  Neil and I did massive weeding on the 4th of July, so you guys can see the garden in a much prettier state.  I also did something fun, and did some side by side photos in this post of Week 7 versus Week 11 photos - check it out below. I took all of the photos this morning before work, so the light is a bit different than the afternoon photos of Week 7.

Neil and I also accomplished some wedding venue shopping this month in Napa, and may have our site picked out. We are still waiting to hear on the dates, but keep your calendars open for September of next year!

The Big Move - May 26th, 2012

Well, I also wanted to show you photos of the big move.  After living in my apartment for almost 2 years, it was time to return to Perry Street.  However, I did not realize how much stuff you can accumulate over 2 years!!  Just thought you guys would like to see our "Hoarders" like house.  Don't worry, it looks better now, but I am not quite ready to show you guys the inside yet. At least, not until everything is really put away.

The good news is that we are about 75% of the way done, and yes, we can actually walk through the house now :)

Week 7 - Wow, I have been a neglectful blogger

Hey Everyone!  It has been one hectic month! Between us getting engaged, Neil turning 33 and Cali and myself moving into the house, we have been SUPER BUSY.  Below are photos of the garden progressing.  Now that Cali and I are back in the house, she seems to be very good at destroying our cucumbers and marigolds.  However, she is also very good at scaring away all the squirrels.

Over this last weekend, we decided to take a break on Sunday from unpacking all of my stuff, and worked outside. Our tomato plants are getting to be large enough for a structure, so Neil and I built one for them.  Our neighbor Kate says that they can get to be as big as 6 feet high, so I am interested to see how it goes.

Below are updated photos of the garden.

Week 3: The Fence, Day 1

Well, Saturday, May 6th started with Neil getting out of bed at 7 am, and myself staying in bed until 10 am. We had a Cinco De Mayo party that I had one too many margarita's at, so I was a late start in assisting with the fence.  Truth be told, Neil really did this one all on his own, until around 5 pm when I came outside to assist with the pickets.  Our friend Mark came over and helped Neil out for 4 hours, which was super great for Neil, and for me!

The backyard looks transformed with the new fence.  I have to take photos of the fence with the gate up, and post those soon. Take a look at all of Neil's hard work on Saturday!
